Once again, Denver Festivus was outstanding! This year, over 40 Denver breweries were in attendance with their delicious beer. And it was so much fun! One of the many reasons Festivus was great is that it had a nice mix of breweries that have been around for years as well as ones that have recently opened (and some not even open yet).

I enjoyed trying beers from some of the newer places that I haven’t had a chance to visit yet, such as Grandma’s House and Platt Park. I was able to get a taste of what they have to offer and get excited about visiting them once I find time to make it there.

I had lots of spectacular beers at Festivus. I wish I could recall all of my favorites, but as the night wore on, well…you know how it goes. However, I definitely remember a few that stood out most to me that day. The American Wild Ale from Our Mutual Friend was phenomenal! I was hoping to discover a new sour at Festivus, and THIS IS IT. Love.

Both of the beers from Fiction Beer Company blew me away. Their Experimental IPA, Somewhere Around Barstow, is brewed with cantaloupe and grapefruit, and those flavors really came through. And Feely Effects, a Green Tea Chocolate Milk Stout, was likely the best milk stout I’ve had. Green tea gave it such a unique flavor, and how creative to have come up with such a recipe!

Thanks to everyone who helped organize this wonderful event as well as all the breweries and participants that attended. It was great fun, and I can’t wait to do it again next year! I wonder how many breweries we’ll have by then…?!
