Hey, everybody! How you doing?! I haven’t posted in a while, and I wanted to take a moment to say HELLO and see how you’re all doing in the midst of this incredibly unique, challenging time.
I’ve been fortunate enough to keep working (mostly from home) for the last several weeks. I am incredibly thankful to have my job, as I’m aware that many folks have been laid off, some perhaps indefinitely. Since I currently have an income, I’ve been doing my best to support local businesses as much as possible. Restaurants, breweries, food trucks, liquor stores, and contributing to employee relief funds whenever possible. Though I’m sure it’s inevitable, it saddens me to think about the potential loss of some of my favorite local spots. I don’t have a lot to contribute financially, but I’m sure trying to keep throwing them as much support as I can right now.
Anyway, how is everyone coping? Are you managing okay? What are you doing with your time? Are you keeping in touch with friends and family? Are you feeling isolated? What keeps you going?
I’ve been holed up at home with my husband for the past 6 weeks or so, working during the day and finding ways to keep myself occupied at night. I’ve taken to baking quite a bit (often cooking with beer), watching too many true crime shows, working on some puzzles, cleaning and organizing, and of course drinking quite a bit of beer. I must admit I’m extremely bummed that my May trip to Belgium and Paris (it would have been my first time there) is canceled, but honestly that seems minor in the grand scheme of things. I am doing okay. But for some reason I just haven’t felt like doing anything creative lately. I simply have no motivation for it. So today I am sitting down and just writing whatever comes to mind, as I wanted to try to connect with you all, reach out, and ask about you.
I hope you are hanging in there. If you feel inclined, please leave comments and let me (and others) know how things are going. I hope one day soon we can all raise a glass with a group of people we care about most, together. Take care, everyone.
